Sunny Brook Bourbon Advertisement Circa 1959

Wow! $25,000 reward back in 1959 from Sunny Brook bourbon? Can you imagine if you had been able to track down the missing artwork?

I think it would be pretty cool if a bourbon brand did something similar today. But then again, asking a bunch of bourbon drinkers to go out and hunt something down is probably not the best approach to mounting an investigation.

As soon as I took my first sip of bourbon I’d sit down in my chair and not move for the rest of the day. In fact, I think that’s how I’m going to approach this weekend.

What about you? What are you’re plans for enjoying bourbon this weekend?

Golden Wedding Whiskey Ad Circa 1941

Leading us into a bourbon-filled weekend today is a 1941 advertisement from Golden Wedding Whiskey. Sold in 1941 as a whiskey made from “wedding” 5 whiskies (primarily bourbon and rye) into one distinct whiskey, the brand is now a low-cost Canadian whisky. Mike Veach has a timeline of the product available here for those that want a little more background. While I like the ad itself I’m not sure if this stuff was drinkable. Would love for someone to chime in via the comments and let us know if they’ve ever had the product from back in the 1940′s.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Ancient Age Bourbon Ad Circa 1941

Let’s welcome the weekend by enjoying the luxury of Ancient Age bourbon via this 1941 advertisement.

It appears that the 8 year is being shipped to Japan and not available in the US market. There’s a good thread over at StraightBourbon.com with details as well as some interesting information about who actually owns Ancient Age. (Hint: It’s not Buffalo Trace.)

Have a great weekend everyone!

Ten High Bourbon Ad Circa 1940

Good Friday everyone. I wasn’t able to track down an Easter-themed bourbon ad for you (should have saved the Virginia ham ad till today), but I was able to locate this Ten High bourbon ad from 1940 styled around tax season.

Evidently if you’re the type of person that is thrifty and saves some money on taxes Ten High bourbon is going to help you do just that. Let me know how that’s working out for you.

Wishing everyone a safe and Happy Easter this weekend. And remember, if you see any drunk Easter Bunnies, give them a break and pour them another glass of bourbon. Ten High Bourbon Ad Circa 1940

Old Crow Bourbon Ad Circa 1972

Say it with me folks, “Damn! I’m glad it’s Friday.” While I still have a few hours to go before I can call it quitting time, I plan on passing the time by staring at this Old Crow Bourbon ad from 1972. It’s another ad from the series I shared last week. This time though, we’re talking bourbon and Virginia ham. That’s a game changer in my world. Plus, I really like the large glass of whiskey approach they had going on back in 1972. No reason to be shy when drinking bourbon, right?

Have a great weekend everyone. Cheers!
