Concord, NH & Bardstown, KY– The New Hampshire Liquor Commission (NHLC), one of the nation’s most profitable and progressive control states, and the globally acclaimed Barton 1792 Distillery have launched a series of single barrel, custom-proofed, cask-finished selections of the new Thomas S. Moore Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskeys. The single barrel selections have been released and proofed to commemorate NHLC’s 86th through 90th anniversaries and finished in custom varieties of select casks from around the world. “This industry-first collaboration with Barton 1792 Distillery celebrates the history of bourbon and New Hampshire’s unique control state model, while looking toward the future. We are thrilled to offer this unique and opportunity to our 12 million NH Liquor & Wine Outlet customers,” said NHLC Chairman Joseph Mollica. “We are constantly innovating in order to maintain our standing as one of the nation’s premier wine and spirits retailers, while generating critical revenue for essential New Hampshire services.”

“We are very excited to bring these unique Thomas S. Moore Expressions to market in New Hampshire, beginning with these five exceptional single barrels” said Danny Kahn, master distiller, Barton 1792 Distillery. “Each of the five Thomas S. Moore Sherry Cask Finish Single Barrels express the unique and profound effect of finishing well-aged Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey in a secondary cask for an extended period of time, resulting in a complex and nuanced flavor profile in each barrel.”

In 1889, Thomas S. Moore built the distillery known today as Barton 1792 Distillery. Moore was an early pioneer in Bardstown, recognized today as the Bourbon Capital of the World. Leading up to Prohibition, Moore established a constantly evolving whiskey empire, growing his humble operation into a powerhouse distillery, filling hundreds of barrels of whiskey a day. Business boomed until the 18th Amendment forced the distillery to cease production in 1920. Today this namesake line of bourbons intends to honor Thomas S. Moore, an innovative bourbon pioneer.

Barton 1792 Distillery has defined a new category of “extended cask finished” bourbon whiskeys with this new collection. Its signature high-rye recipe bourbon is aged for many years in new charred oak barrels, before filling other casks that previously matured various wines or spirits from around the world, ranging from Cognac to Cabernet to Port and more. In these fabulous casks, the bourbon aged an additional one to three years. This extended cask-finishing method results in elegant whiskeys, each displaying a distinct flavor profile, reflecting nuances of both the bourbon and the finishing cask.

Customers are invited to taste New Hampshire’s Thomas S. Moore selections with Barton 1792 Master Distiller Danny Kahn during an interactive virtual tasting on April 28, 2021 at 6:00PM EST. RSVP to the event at www.liquorandwineoutlets.com/thomasmoore.

Products are available on sale now from $69.99 at select NH Liquor & Wine Outlet locations. For availability, search the product codes listed above at www.liquorandwineoutlets.com.

Interesting and since I live in NH, I’m happy the article included the stock number so I can check stock. Looks like I’m off to Nashua to grab a bottle of barrel 5.
