That ’70s Tasting featuring Cabin Still and Old Crow

A few weeks ago I received an email from Josh Peters over at The Whiskey Jug asking if I’d be interested in taking part in a group review of some 1970’s era Cabin Still and Old Crow bourbon he’d gotten his hands on recently.

A few weeks ago I received an email from Josh Peters over at The Whiskey Jug asking if I’d be interested in taking part in a group review of some 1970’s era Cabin Still and Old Crow bourbon he’d gotten his hands on recently. Without any hesitation I told him I was in and a few days later the glorious samples arrived.

The samples included 1970’s Cabin Still, Old Crow, Bellows Club and a modern-day sample of Old Crow for comparison. (The Bellows Club being a bonus sample for me to review at a later date of my own choosing.) The plan was to have six different bloggers taste and post about the samples without talking to each other in advance.

The bloggers taking part in this group review are:

Everyone was scheduled to post their reviews on September 24th and 25th but yours truly ran into some bandwidth issues as work over the past few weeks causing me to miss the deadline. To make up for lost time I sampled everything this past weekend and created the tasting review video below. I hope you enjoy my review of these very cool dusty bourbons.

I want to thank Josh for inviting me to participate in the group tasting. I had a blast and I’m very humbled being included with such a great group of bourbon lovers and bloggers. I encourage you to head on over to their websites and read their reviews of these bourbons and see how everyone’s opinions compare. Plus you find out more about each bourbon’s history and why the new stuff doesn’t taste like the juice from years gone by.

And remember, next time you come across some great old dusty bourbons make sure to take some notes so you can compare them to what’s on the market today. Cheers!
