LUCA MARIANO OLD AMERICAN SMALL BATCH BOURBON

NOSE: Corn | Apple | Hay | Smoke

TASTE: Corn | Mint | Pepper | Green Apple

FINISH: Medium to short with a strong Pepper note

SHARE WITH: Craft Bourbon enthusiasts and people who prefer a very low proof bourbon

WORTH THE PRICE: For me, no. I like high proof and very complex Bourbon. At 83 proof and just over 4 years this is a very basic pour.

BOTTLE, BAR OR BUST: This is a difficult call as it has the foundation of a good bourbon, it just needs to be left at cask strength or even 100 proof. I will go Bar as a simple pour and would probably buy a bottle at a higher proof.

OVERALL: I’m a fan of the folks who are currently making this on contract at Wilderness Trail. Unfortunately, what started as good bourbon has been watered down to 83 proof and all the character went with it. Knowing what is possible with the distillate I’d be happy to try it if/when they release a higher proof version.
