## **STEVE'S NOTES**

---

**SHARE WITH:** Tequila fans, especially fans of soft sippers

**WORTH THE PRICE:** Sure. It's just a touch high, but I've seen it below MSRP online, so you might get lucky.

**BOTTLE, BAR OR BUST:** Bottle.

**OVERALL:** The nose is slightly herbal, a tad grassy and with some fresh-sawn lumber in the background. You gotta reach for the aromas in here; they won't walk out on their own. The palate, however, is delicious: cooked agave, lemon peel, roasted pineapple, honeycomb and bruleed demerera sugar. It takes a while, but the double barreling shows up in some black pepper and tannin. Take a good swig, roll it all around your mouth, and don't swallow, but exhale through your nose. That kicks up the barrel accents markedly.

This is a nice tequila for the price and arguably the best liquid from Impulsora Rombo. I've had Espanita Blanco and its standard repo, and both were fine and value priced at $30\. Sammy Hagar's famous and average Cabo Wabo once was made there, but that's about all the limits of notoriety afforded this humble distillery located east of Guadalajara.

## **BRAND NOTES**

---

Unique and intriguing double barrel aged Reposado tequila with an authentic style, excellent structure, and long, seamless finish that showcases tantalizing Bourbon accents resting on a roasted Agave center. First aged in American white oak barrels and finished in Kentucky Bourbon casks.

On the nose, white-peppered sweet agave, chocolate mint, apricot chutney, toasted honey oak, cherry heering, and vanilla bean. Velvety body with notes of cherry cola, spiced nuts, brown sugar-sprinkled grapefruit, and candied ginger. Long and nuanced finish with toasted coconut, applewood, hazelnut spread, and citrus peel.
