JEFF'S NOTES

NOSE:  Corn  |  Vanilla  |  Sweet Dried Fruit  |  Nutmeg

TASTE:  Corn  |  Caramel  |   Rye Spice  |  Char

FINISH: Medium to long.  Very spicy with char that remains on the palate past the swallow.

SHARE WITH: Friends who will enjoy a simple and drinkable bourbon as well as MGP fans.

WORTH THE PRICE: This one is at the upper-echelon of bottom-shelf whiskey. I would not go above MSRP.

BOTTLE, BAR OR BUST: This one is definitely a Bar rating. A very average Bourbon lacking much in depth.

OVERALL:  Redemption High Rye Bourbon is something I've been hemming-and-hawing about for the last year. It has a very attractive, low-entry price and it is from MGP, something only a few years ago was sneered at and in the last couple, suddenly treasured.

I hoped Redemption High Rye Bourbon would be an opportunity to #RespectTheBottomShelf but this didn't quite make my cut of a great low-cost gem. There was nothing really wrong with this Bourbon, it just was very average with a punch of ethanol despite allowing it to rest about 20 minutes prior to sipping.

I don't want to leave the impression this is a bad whiskey because it isn't. But, it also isn't a shining star. Yet, when one of the best things about a whiskey is its creamy mouthfeel, that's not something that wets my whistle.

This would be a good Bourbon to use in cocktails. There are some very strong flavors. But, it also drinks a lot higher than its proof statement.

Try this one at a Bar (or friend's house) first before committing to a bottle.  MGP fans should try this as well so they can get a complete idea of what they offer. Cheers!

REDEMPTION HIGH RYE BOURBON

We think you can never have too much rye, so our High Rye Bourbon recipe approaches the upper limit of allowable rye grain in a bourbon mash bill.

TASTE PROFILE

Classic sweet backbone of bourbon with strong notes of rye spice to add to the vanilla and caramel flavors of the whiskey. Great for sipping or classic cocktails.
