Welcome to another installment of crazy weather Friday featuring Four Roses Bourbon. The last few days, it got into the 80s here in St. Louis, but now it’s 41 degrees with a freeze warning in effect for tonight. And of course, we have our friends on the East Coast staring down the barrel of a “Frankenstorm”. (Thanks to CNN for that word.) Definitely a time of great weather chaos. Regardless of where you are today, I hope you have a safe and enjoyable last day of the week.
Typically we feature what I call “vintage” bourbon ads on Fridays. However, when the Bourbon & Banter Pilgrimage was at Four Roses a few weeks ago, I spotted this poster in their offices that featured Christopher Lambert. Many of you will remember Christopher Lambert from his role as Connor MacLeod in “The Highlander”. (Don’t ask me why I don’t recognize the sequels. That would require more bourbon.)
This is a poster from Japan, where Four Roses remained available and very popular when it was removed from the US market. Having lived in Japan for a number of years, I’ve always been fascinated by advertising for the Japanese market that featured Westerners that typically don’t do commercials in the US. That along with my love of “The Highlander,” makes this a great poster in my opinion. I hope you enjoy it as well.
