Did Mark Twain incorrectly use the word “than” instead of then or have you just printed an egregious grammatical error on numerous pieces of memorabilia?

When and where did Twain say this?

Twain was a journalist and an author. It is hard to believe that he confused “than” with “then.”

But, it is possible. I just wish I knew where this quotation comes from.
