1792 Full Proof Bourbon Review

This has been out for a while, but I found one on the shelf in Virginia. I was disappointed in this bottling of 1792. I have had bottles of the Small Batch and Sweet Wheat and tasted the Single Barrel and Port Finish.

LEE'S NOTES

NOSE: Alcohol  |  Oak  |  Vanilla Cookies  |  Orange

TASTE: Alcohol  |  Hints of Vanilla Cream  |  Oak

FINISH: There was nothing remarkable about the finish. A short alcohol burn on the tongue and then pretty much nothing. Every now again there would be a creamy feeling on the tongue. A few drops of water did allow a little more vanilla to show up but not much.

SHARE WITH: I would share this with experienced bourbon drinkers who like higher proof bourbon and want to taste this one.

WORTH THE PRICE: The MSRP is $44.99. In the current market, it is not a bad price for a limited edition bourbon, but there are better products out there in my humble opinion.

BOTTLE, BAR OR BUST: My suggestion would be to try this at a bar first and if you like it then look for a bottle.

OVERALL: This has been out for a while, but I found one on the shelf in Virginia. I was disappointed in this bottling of 1792. I have had bottles of the Small Batch and Sweet Wheat and tasted the Single Barrel and Port Finish. I bought my bottle because of my experience with other 1792 expressions. This does not come close to any of those. It just doesn’t have a lot of taste. I would not buy another bottle of this one.

BRAND NOTES

Bourbon insiders have long acknowledged that full proof bourbon has a distinctively rich flavor. This bourbon underwent a distinct filtering process, forgoing the typical chill filtration, and only passing through a plate and frame filter. This allowed the bourbon to maintain a robust proof bottling, as well as a full rich and bold flavor. Bottled at its original 125 barrel entry proof, just as it was years ago when the barrels were first filled, 1792 Full Proof Bourbon is exceptionally distinct.

Tasting Notes: Strong and full of flavor, this bold bourbon boasts an incredible deep and smoky taste, superbly balanced with sweet vanilla and notes of caramel.
