HQ Build-Out: Episode 6

The pantry is done, the office finally has power, and the electrician let me hold some tools I probably shouldn't be holding.

Red, white, blue, and a whole lot of pegboard. The pantry is officially a room now.

It's been a few weeks since the last update, and that's mostly on us. We were stuck waiting on the carpenter's schedule and an electrician who apparently has other clients besides us. In the meantime we touched up some paint, cleaned up the shop, and quietly reworked the electrical plan to keep the budget from getting out of hand.

Then this weekend happened, and it happened fast. The pantry went from studs and a plan to a finished room, cabinets, cubby, and all. Those $650 Facebook Marketplace cabinets you'll remember from a few episodes back finally have a home, and they fit better than we had any right to expect. The office got wired for the first time, which means we can actually work in there now instead of just standing around admiring drywall. And the electrician started laying groundwork for the whiskey wall, the front room, and even the Ring doorbell, so we can stop worrying about the battery dying every other week.

The pantry came in cheaper than expected, which almost never happens on this build. The electric isn't finished yet, but between the alternative layout we worked out and the electrician letting me tag along, we're tracking well under the original quotes.

Watch the full video below for the walkthrough, including the cubby our carpenter built to make up for a few inches we were short, and the corner where several thousand dead corks are about to start piling up.
