Replay: Leiper's Fork Virtual Tasting
A few nights ago, Lee Kennedy, founder and head distiller at Leiper's Fork Distillery, joined us for our community virtual tasting. Lee and I go back to about 2016, the same year he filled his first barrel. Leiper's Fork is a family-owned, grain-to-glass distillery about 45 minutes south of Nashville in Williamson County, sitting on land his family has been tied to since 1805. It took him three years just to get the county law changed so he could open the doors.
For a sense of scale, they make about 500 barrels a year. Lee pointed out that his big brother down in Lynchburg makes 2,500 barrels a day. Every grain comes off a single farm four miles up the road, everything runs through a pot still on a sweet mash, and every barrel gets filled at 110 proof. Three samples on the docket.
Here's what we tasted.
