Boondocks American Whiskey Review

In American Whiskey Reviews by Luke Castle1 Comment

Aged for 11 years in American white oak barrel in Kentucky, Boondocks American Whiskey 95 Proof is made from corn, rye and malt. Light in color but rich, nuanced and complex, fruitiness and exotic spices enhance some of the subtler aromatic characteristics like the toasted marshmallow oak barrel notes. Mouthfeel is creamy and buttery with a long, pleasant finish. Boondocks Spirit Co.

NOSE: Cherries  |  Honey  | Alcohol  | Light Oak TASTE: Cherries  | Baking Spices  | Toasted Marshmallow FINISH: Long with multiple waves. Fills your mouth and chest. More complex than most 95 Proof whiskeys. SHARE WITH: Everyone. Its low proof won’t scare off newbies, and its complexity will please more experienced whiskey fans. WORTH THE PRICE: It isn’t easy to find an 11-year-old whiskey made by someone with a Whiskey Advocate Lifetime Achievement award for $40. Easily worth the price. BOTTLE, BAR OR BUST: Bottle. This is a real value whiskey, and I look forward to trying new bottlings that Dave and Boondocks’ introduce. OVERALL: Easy sipping crowd pleaser by a giant in the industry. It’s designation as an American Whiskey is due to it being aged in used oak barrels. That doesn’t take away from the flavor or enjoyment at all. Bourbon lovers should enjoy this whiskey from a legend in the industry (Woodford fans especially.) Learn more about Luke's whiskey preferences and check out more of his reviews...
