NOSE: Baking Spices | Caramel | Candied Oranges | Leather

TASTE: Candied Orange | Caramel | Rye Spice

FINISH: Long finish featuring candied orange and rye spices with a slow building burn.

SHARE WITH: Your bourbon loving friends who enjoy exploring bourbon blends.

WORTH THE PRICE: Yes. I appreciate a limited edition release that's under the $100 price point.

BOTTLE, BAR OR BUST: Definitely a bottle. I plan on buying a few bottles for my own home bar.

OVERALL: I look forward to this release every year, and it keeps getting better and better. This year's release though totally caught me off guard with its heavy candied orange aroma and flavor. So much so that if someone had given this to me blind, I would have sworn it was a bourbon finished in an orange Curaçao barrel.

While the candied orange notes were unexpected, I find it a welcome change in what I've come to expect from MGP. And that is why I love trying new bourbons. You never know what you'll encounter - even when dealing with well established distilleries.

This one is best served neat and pairs exceptionally well with some milk chocolate. I will be using this one as a dessert pour in my future bourbon tasting dinners.

If you've enjoyed the previous two George Remus Repeal Reserve releases this one is a nice change of pace that you'll enjoy as well. For those of you knew to this yearly expression, it's also worth adding to your home bar.

MGP ANNOUNCES REMUS REPEAL RESERVE SERIES III

Third Annual Release in Remus Repeal Series features a reserve medley of bourbons from 2007 and 2008

August 20, 2019 (Lawrenceburg, IN) – MGP (Nasdaq: MGPI) will release Remus Repeal Reserve Series III Straight Bourbon Whiskey this November 2019. Produced to commemorate Prohibition Repeal Day, Series III is a limited bottling that debuts annually on November 13, the birthdate of brand namesake George Remus. This release is accompanied with a tasting series that leads up to December 5, National Prohibition Repeal Day. MGP is also planning a holiday release of Remus Volstead Reserve Straight Bourbon Whiskey, a bottled-in-bond, 14-year aged Bourbon timed with the 100th Anniversary of the start of Prohibition – under the Volstead Act.

Also crafted in Lawrenceburg, Remus Volstead Reserve is bottled-in-bond from 2005 bourbons and bottled at 100-proof. Remus Volstead Reserve has rich aromas of dried candied fruit, caramelized pecans, oak, char and tobacco. Robust and rich oak flavors dominate the forward palate and body of this bourbon. Balanced cherry and caramel touches compliment the oak in the body and intensify in the bourbon’s finish. Pleasant notes of leather and spice round out the finish, and oak and barrel char notes linger until the next sip. Available as of November 2019, the packaging is designed for collectors with a high-end glass bottle and commemorative box. This limited, 2005-aged reserve Bourbon will never be repeated. No more than 500 9-liter cases will be available for markets where George Remus Bourbon is currently sold.

Remus Repeal Reserve Series III retails for a suggested $84.99 per 750-ml bottle and will be available in limited quantities as of November 13, 2019.
