A Conversation with Kaveh Zamanian on Luxe Bottles, Coming Price Drops

Is (the price of such bottles) going to get better over time? Absolutely, because when we move to our own distillate, it's going to get much better from a business standpoint. I think that benefit is going to get passed on to consumers as well.

A Conversation with Kaveh Zamanian on Luxe Bottles, Coming Price Drops

It’s not often a distiller sends press samples of an $899 bourbon. But not only did Rabbit Hole Distillery do that, I was told that if I wanted to talk to founder Kaveh Zamanian about the release, he’d welcome it. Given the brand’s location about 10 minutes from my home, that was low-hanging fruit since I wanted to know why Adourra Kentucky Straight Bourbon costs as much as it does and who Zamanian thinks will buy it.

I also wanted to get his take on the changing whiskey market, since at a Rabbit Hole event a few months ago, Zamanian predicted that consumers will benefit from the industry downturn.

But before we get to that, let’s start with Adourra, the latest in RH’s Founder’s Collection: 108 proof (54% ABV) bourbon that's finished in Armagnac casks. Distiller’s notes include aroma (dark cigar leaf, cherry and sweet floral notes), palate (custard, rich caramel, dark fruit with notes of oak, leather and wood spice) and finish (long and smoky with hints of black pepper).
